Abstract

|
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a spectrum of disease that includes deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). The laboratory can serve an important role in screening VTE and preventing unnecessary testing. Among coagulation tests, d-dimer as a biomarker of activation of coagulation and fibrinolysis is widely used for screening and predicting recurrence of VTE. We purposed to review for clinical significance and application of d-dimer test in VTE.
